Free funny fighting web game about scientists

Science Kombat is a free silly action-packed fighting web browser video game that allows you to play as famous scientists and take on other scientists. Developed by Superinteressante, this web app game features well-known scientific figures all across history—like Einstein and Pythagoras—and lets you play as them while they kick serious butt on the ring. If you’re a fighting game fan and find the idea of such characters placed in the genre hilarious, this is a great game to try out.

Hit me up

A fighting game is a video game genre about close combat between a limited number of characters in a stage wherein the boundaries are fixed. The preset characters have to fight each other until they defeat their opponents or the timer expires. The matches usually consist of several rounds—sometimes, a maximum of six—and you can often expect each character to different abilities or fighting styles to make them distinct and appealing to players.

Moving left and right, punching, kicking, jumping, and crouching are the basic move sets. You can chain these to create set combos or unlock special attacks during the fight. Popular fighting games include the Street Fighter series, the Tekken series, the Super Smash Bros series, and the gory Mortal Kombat

Punch your theory through

In the comically-named Science Kombat, however, things get flashier than gorier. Drawn in beautiful pixel art, Science Kombat features eight famous scientists, namely Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Nikola Tesla, Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, Pythagoras, Marie Curie, and Alan Turing. Each of them has their unique abilities, all related to what they’ve been known for.

Darwin can evolve into an ape and caveman in a series of punches, Hawking can teleport to the other side of the stage, Newton can bring down an apple to bonk enemies on the head, and even Tesla can shoot out electricity. There are only two modes: Tournament and Single Fight. Tournament Mode has your chosen scientist fighting against a random other scientist controlled by an AI. Once all scientists have been defeated, you get to fight God with their many different forms in an epic throwdown.

Single Fight, on the other hand, is just similar to Tournament Mode, but you can choose who you’re fighting against. Unlike other fighting games, you can only die once here before you’re officially defeated, and have to start over. There are also only a few combos you can do—although each of the special moves looks really cool. This is a nice little game to play around with, but it could’ve been better if you could play local co-op with a friend, too.

Fight of the century

All in all, Science Kombat is a cute niche title of a fighting game that’s more of a parody than something serious. It’s great that the character designs had stayed true to the real-life people, however—even though they never tried to beat each other up. This is a recommended title to try out if you want to test who’s the better fighter between Einstein and Hawking.
